Eminent climate scientist, Dr Russell Schnell, will deliver a lecture at Waurn Ponds.
The Nobel Prize recipient Dr Russell Schnell is set to visit Deakin University, where he will deliver a lecture at the Waurn Ponds campus.
Dr Schnell is Deputy Director of the Global Monitoring Division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the United States.
He has been the director of numerous major projects and scientific institutions, and has lived or worked in 90 countries and authored more than 150 scientific publications.
He and his team on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) were co-recipients of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, along with Al Gore.
Committed to sharing his science knowledge with the public, Dr Schnell has spoken to thousands of people throughout his career – devising innovative ways to demystify complex information. He received the NOAA’s 2011 Albritton Outstanding Science Communicator Award.
Dr Schnell is being hosted by Deakin Research and the Centre for Integrative Ecology.
